Assam Appoints Subam Rabha as Head Coach for Santosh Trophy

The Assam Football Association has named Subam Rabha as the head coach of the State Senior Football Team for the upcoming 77th Senior National Football Championships, the Santosh Trophy 2023-24. Rabha, a 29-year-old coach, holds the prestigious AFC A license, making him the only coach in the state with such a qualification.

Assam is set to host Group-D matches of the tournament from October 8 to October 17, 2023, at Kokrajhar. This marks the second consecutive time that Kokrajhar in the Bodoland Territorial Region will host the tournament, emphasizing the region’s love for football and its ability to organize such prestigious events.

In Group D, Assam will face off against teams from Bihar, Chandigarh, Railways, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. The team, under Coach Rabha’s guidance, has been diligently preparing for their opening match against Bihar on October 8th at the SAI Stadium. The players have undergone rigorous training, and a trial camp was initiated on September 14 to select the best players.

The team’s primary goal, led by Coach Rabha, is to deliver their best performance in the tournament and secure qualification for the final rounds to be held in Arunachal Pradesh. With dedicated players and Coach Rabha’s expertise, they are determined to make Assam proud in the upcoming championship.
