The Assam Football Association has named Subam Rabha as the head coach of the State Senior Football Team for the upcoming 77th Senior National Football Championships, the Santosh Trophy 2023-24. Rabha, a 29-year-old coach, holds the prestigious AFC A license, making him the only coach in the state with such a qualification.
Assam is set to host Group-D matches of the tournament from October 8 to October 17, 2023, at Kokrajhar. This marks the second consecutive time that Kokrajhar in the Bodoland Territorial Region will host the tournament, emphasizing the region’s love for football and its ability to organize such prestigious events.

In Group D, Assam will face off against teams from Bihar, Chandigarh, Railways, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. The players have undergone rigorous training, and a trial camp was initiated on September 14 to select the best players.
