Guwahati: A mobile health camp conducted under the Arogya Bandhu Project by Resonia Ltd. has helped detect an early-stage breast cancer case in a rural area of Assam.

The woman was screened during a routine village visit by the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). She had not sought medical help earlier due to hesitation and social stigma. During the camp, health workers identified symptoms of breast cancer and immediately referred her for further check-up.

The programme is being run in collaboration with the Assam Cancer Care Foundation. A team of doctors, nurses and field staff conducts regular screening and awareness camps in remote villages.

After the initial detection, the medical team followed up with counselling and helped the patient reach a proper healthcare facility. Her condition is now being monitored for further treatment.

Health officials say lack of awareness, distance from hospitals and social stigma often delay diagnosis in rural areas. Programmes like Arogya Bandhu aim to solve this by taking screening services directly to villages.

Resonia said it will expand the project to more districts to improve early detection and reduce serious health risks in rural communities.
