Guwahati: Another incident of police firing has been reported in the city, this time in the Amsing area of Sonapur. On August 9, at around 3 AM, a thief named Amir Ali was injured in the leg as a result of police gunfire. He was attempting to escape from police custody when the police were compelled to open fire.

This marks the third such incident within a span of just ten days. On August 3, two individuals suspected of mobile phone thefts were shot by the police in separate incidents. Similarly, on August 8, another mobile snatcher was injured by police gunfire in Chandrapur as he attempted to flee from the police.
