Tokyo: Honda Motor Co., Ltd. on Monday officially announced its return to the FIA Formula One World Championship from the 2026 season as a works power unit supplier, following the launch of its partnership with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team at an event in Tokyo.
Honda Global CEO Toshihiro Mibe said the new partnership aligns with the sweeping 2026 Formula One regulations, which emphasise electrification and the use of advanced sustainable fuels. He confirmed that Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has developed the RA626H power unit for the 2026 season, which will feature Honda’s newly refreshed ‘H’ logo.
Formula One President and CEO Stefano Domenicali welcomed Honda’s return, stating that the collaboration comes at a time when F1 is witnessing strong global growth, with over 800 million fans worldwide and a rapidly expanding fan base in Japan. He added that the 2026 regulation overhaul marks the biggest technical transformation in the sport’s history.
Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll described the collaboration as a true works partnership, where the chassis and power unit will be developed as an integrated package to target championship success. He also highlighted the team’s technical alliances with Aramco for sustainable fuels and Valvoline for lubricants.
The Honda–Aston Martin Aramco partnership will officially begin in the 2026 Formula One season, marking a significant step in the sport’s transition towards sustainability while strengthening competition at the highest level of motorsport.
