Hyderabad: Assam-based popular OTT platform NIRI9 is set to host the third edition of its International Film Festival in Hyderabad on January 10 and 11. The festival will take place at Prasad Film Labs Cinema, bringing together a diverse selection of films from across the globe.
Out of a total of 176 entries, including feature films, short films, and documentaries received from various countries, the jury has selected 19 films for screening at the festival.
Two Oscar-nominated films — “Voice of Hind Rajab” (Gaza) and “Kuki” (India) — will be screened as special presentations.
Among the notable films to be showcased are “Juiphool”, directed by Jadumani Dutta; “Dahini”, directed by Rajesh Tauchivar; and “Ghar”, directed by Kankan Bora. Significantly, journalist, author, and filmmaker Hemanta Sarma’s short film “Omnipresent – A Story” has been selected for screening in the competition section of the festival.
The festival will be formally inaugurated on the morning of January 10 by the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma. The closing ceremony on January 11 will feature musical performances by Bollywood singer Mohini, Shillong-based artist Lu Majaw, and Assamese singer Manisha Bordoloi.
The event will also be attended by National Award-winning actress Seema Biswas, along with several prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry.
