Charaideo: ‘Suriya Mon’, a compilation of songs penned by emerging writer and cultural enthusiast Mitali Gogoi, was formally released during the closing ceremony of the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sonari Jatiya Vidyalaya in Charaideo district. The book has been published by Pride Assam Publications.
The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including Jogananda Bora, Education Secretary of Jatiya Vidyalaya; Sunil Dutta, Rati Prabha Gogoi, Juri Devi Phukan, Bani Changmai, Naren Rajkhowa, Nirmal Saikia, Bimal Phukan of Nazira, among others.
The anthology was unveiled by noted singer and cultural activist Bani Changmai, who praised the book, saying, “I was deeply moved upon reading ‘Suriya Mon’. The lyrics are exceptional. Mitali’s songs will stand as a testament to her work. I wish her continued success.”
Former President of Lekhika Sangstha, Assam, and former Principal of Sonari College, Rati Prabha Gogoi, described Mitali Gogoi as a dedicated cultural activist. She said, “‘Suriya Mon’ is the outcome of her sincere efforts. The book covers themes related to Assam’s social fabric, touching upon children, women, diverse communities, cultural traditions, science, and environmental well-being. My best wishes to the author.”
Pride Assam Publishing House, in a statement, highlighted that ‘Suriya Mon’ captures the author’s “vibrant experiences, emotions, and heartfelt memories”, adding that the anthology stands out for its simplicity and emotional depth. The publisher expressed confidence that the book would resonate with readers and inspire the author to continue writing and creating more original work.
