Guwahati: The ENT Department and Speech & Hearing Unit of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) marked World Hearing Day with a series of awareness programs and service initiatives.
Dr. Achyut Ch Baishya, Principal cum Chief Superintendent of GMCH, inaugurated the event along with Professor Kalpana Sharma, Head of the ENT Department, Professor Gautam Nayak, Dr. Deepjyoti Barman, Audiologist & Speech Pathologist J. Patgiri, Dhruba Das, and Rohit Bhattacharyya.
As part of the initiative, GMCH, in collaboration with ALIMCO, distributed free hearing aids to promote accessible healthcare for individuals with hearing impairments. A new Audiology (AVT) room was also inaugurated, further enhancing the hospital’s diagnostic and rehabilitation services.
The event also featured an art competition for cochlear implant children, with prizes awarded for their creative efforts. GMCH reaffirmed its commitment to raising awareness about hearing health and providing comprehensive services to the community.
