Guwahati: Members of the All Assam Press Owners’ Association met Assam Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu at his official residence in Dispur on Sunday.
During the meeting, the association handed over a contribution of Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Assam, as support for people affected by the devastating floods in Upper Assam.
The association also announced another initiative to support students affected by the floods. It has decided to provide notebooks free of cost to flood-affected students.
Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu formally released the notebooks before they were dispatched for distribution. A total of 10,000 notebooks will be distributed free of cost among flood-affected students.
The association said the initiatives were aimed at extending support to flood-affected families and helping students continue their education despite the difficulties caused by the floods.
