Guwahati: A newly married woman’s mysterious death has created sensation in Noonmati and nearby areas. The deceased has been identified as Shruti Roy. Police have arrested her husband Rupak Sen in connection with the case.
According to reports, Shruti Roy and Rupak Sen had a love marriage on January 28 this year at Bishnupur near Noonmati. This was Rupak Sen’s second marriage. Just a few months after their marriage, Shruti’s sudden death has shocked the family.
Shruti’s family has alleged that her husband forced her to consume poison. Based on this complaint, Odhalbakra Police detained Rupak Sen for questioning and later arrested him. He has now been sent to judicial custody.
However, Rupak Sen has denied all allegations. During police questioning, he claimed that Shruti had been unwell for the past few days. He said she was admitted to Marwari Maternity Hospital on Sunday, where she died during treatment.
Hospital sources also confirmed that she was admitted on Sunday but died within a few hours. Police said the exact cause of death is not yet known. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the real cause will be clear only after the report comes.
The incident has created tension and concern in the Noonmati and Odalbakra areas. Police have started a detailed investigation to find out whether it is a natural death or if any foul play is involved.
