Two Government Officials Caught Accepting Bribes in Assam

Guwahati: In a recent crackdown on corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Assam conducted a sting operation at the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department’s Executive Engineer’s office in Nalbari district.

During the operation, Junior Assistant Junu Kalita was apprehended in the act of accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000. This amount was allegedly demanded to expedite the issuance of a Contractor License.

In another incident, DVAC arrested Sub-Inspector Merafat Ali from Panigaon Police Station in Lakhimpur district. The officer was caught accepting a bribe from a complainant at the police station. The bribe was related to securing bail in a criminal case.
