New Delhi: TheTeacherApp, a free digital platform for teachers developed by Bharti Airtel Foundation, has reached nearly 3 lakh users across India, the foundation announced.
Launched in November 2024, TheTeacherApp was designed to support continuous professional development of teachers in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The platform provides professional learning resources, classroom tools and opportunities for teachers to connect and learn from each other.
The platform is currently supporting teacher development across 36 states and Union Territories and offers more than 4,000 hours of learning content along with over 45 AI-powered teaching tools.
Bharti Airtel Foundation has partnered with the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand to support state-led Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes for teachers. The foundation is also in discussions with other states for similar partnerships.
In collaboration with NITI Aayog, the foundation is working on teacher development in Aspirational Districts, with a focus on foundational literacy, digital readiness and classroom management.
TheTeacherApp is also supporting SCERT-led professional development in Jammu & Kashmir, teacher development programmes in Uttar Pradesh, AI-enabled learning in Telangana and action research capacity-building through RSCERT and DIETs in Rajasthan. Similar initiatives are being undertaken in Uttarakhand and Nagaland.
The foundation has also partnered with the Indian Army’s Northern Command to support educators working in Army Goodwill Schools across Jammu & Kashmir.
The platform is aligned with NEP 2020’s recommendation of 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development for teachers every year. Teachers can complete learning hours through short courses, webinars and podcasts without having to leave their classrooms.
The platform also allows teachers to choose learning content based on their individual interests and classroom requirements.
According to the foundation, the collaboration aims to make professional learning, technology and practical teaching resources more accessible to educators.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Co-Chairman of Bharti Airtel Foundation and Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, said teachers remain central to India’s development and that meaningful teacher development requires access to quality learning, practical resources, technology and institutional partnerships.
