Guwahati: Sun Valley Hospital observed its 9th Diabetic Foot Day with a day-long programme on Wednesday.
The programme started at 7:30 AM with a mass prayer by patients’ attendants and hospital staff. From 10 AM to 12 noon, a free check-up camp for diabetic foot and related tests for diabetes patients was organised. Around 100 people attended the camp.
An open session was later held at Guwahati Press Club from 1 PM to 3 PM. Dr. Anup Kumar Barman attended the programme as Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Dwipen Sarma, senior Director of the hospital.
The welcome speech was delivered by Rajani Kanta Sarma on behalf of Abhoy Ch. Hazarika, who could not attend due to health reasons. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp.
Doctors including Dr. Tapan Sarma and Dr. Hemanga Barman spoke about diabetic foot disease and the hospital’s work in treating patients since 2017. They highlighted efforts to save limbs and lives through proper treatment.
Dr. Anup Kumar Barman also spoke about the disease and appreciated the work of the hospital’s team led by Dr. S.K. Jain, a specialist in foot surgery.
In his speech, Dwipen Sarma talked about the hospital’s efforts in dealing with such serious health issues. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tapan Sarma.
