Morigaon: A stray rhino attacked a man, Krishna Das (55), from Jhargaon village, around 6 AM on Monday. The incident occurred 4 km away from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in the Jhargaon area under Morigaon Territorial Range.
Krishna Das sustained severe injuries to his right leg and was immediately taken to Jhargaon PHC. A forest team, led by the Range Officer of Pobitora WLS, visited the hospital and monitored the situation. Due to the severity of the injuries, he was referred to GMCH, Guwahati, for advanced treatment, accompanied by a Pobitora WLS team.
Another forest team, along with local support, is patrolling the conflict site to locate the rhino and ensure its safe return to the sanctuary.
