Guwahati: The Seemanta Kreeda Mahotsav 2025 will take place on April 9, 10, and 11 at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium, Sarusajai, Guwahati. In a press meet held in Guwahati today, organizers announced about the event.
The competition is open to Sub-Junior (14-17 years) and Junior (17-20 years) players who live within 20 km of Assam’s international border. A total of 600 athletes have qualified for the final events after competing in district-level qualifiers held between December 21, 2024, and January 30, 2025, in nine international border districts. Nearly 6,000 athletes participated in these rounds.
The final events will include 100m, 200m, and 800m races, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin throw, relay race, and marathon.
The Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar, formed in 2008 in Dhubri, Assam, works for the welfare of border communities. It follows the principles of security, self-reliance, and unity. The group organizes sports events, awareness meetings, and skill development programs to support the youth.
