Guwahati: The Indian National Trade Union Congress has appointed Romen Borthakur as the President of its Assam State Branch.
The decision was taken during a Working Committee meeting of the trade union held on April 26, 2026. According to an official letter issued by the INTUC National Headquarters, the appointment has come into effect immediately.
The notification, signed by INTUC National Secretary Kamal Ranjan Dubey, has assigned Borthakur the responsibility of strengthening and expanding the union’s organisational structure across Assam.
The appointment has been welcomed by members of the labour and trade union community. Many believe it will help strengthen workers’ representation, improve grassroots-level organisation, and raise labour-related issues more effectively in the state.
