A team from the 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a joint mock exercise on forest fire management at Rani Forest near Satargaon, Kamrup, Assam, on January 28, 2025.
The NDRF team, led by Inspector Pintu Kumar Seal and supervised by Assistant Commandant Mahesh Chand Gurjar, included 38 rescuers. Senior officials, including Second-in-Command (2IC) officers Pankaj Kavidayal, Kuldeep Sharma (Operations), and Dr. Mufi-ul Karim (Chief Medical Officer), were also present.
The NDRF team established a command post, operation base, communication base, and medical base in a safe zone. They executed response drills using specialized equipment, ensuring a swift and effective firefighting operation.
This exercise highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness and coordination between various agencies to effectively combat forest fires and protect lives and the environment.
