Guwahati: The trailer, poster and title track of Assamese film Moromor Deuta were officially launched at Jyoti Chitraban on Saturday.
The film is based on a popular novel by Bhabendra Nath Saikia. The story was first published in children’s magazine Xophura in 1989–90. The movie brings the same story to the big screen with a modern touch. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 15.
At the event, Preeti Saikia, wife of late Dr Saikia, said it is an emotional moment to see the story come alive as a film. She said the work is very special and has touched many readers over the years. Producer Mamata Mahilary said the team has worked hard to present a meaningful story that people of all ages can connect with.
Director Himjyoti Talukdar said adapting such an emotional story was a big responsibility. He added that the team has tried to keep the original feel while making it suitable for today’s audience. He is also known for films like Calendar (2018) and Taarikh (2025). The title song ‘Edin’ is sung by Bishrut Saikia, with lyrics by Ibson Lal Baruah and music by Arnab Bashistha.
The film features actors like Bodhisattva Sharma, Mintu Baruah, Aparna Dutta Choudhury, Arun Nath, Gaurav Bora and Kul Kuldeep. The makers say the film will offer an emotional and nostalgic experience to the audience when it releases next month.
