Major Accident in Assam’s Hailakandi: 24 Injured

Hailakandi: In a distressing turn of events, Assam’s Hailakandi district witnessed another accident just shy of two weeks after the Dergaon tragedy. On Tuesday, a collision on National Highway No. 53 at Katakhal, approximately 25 kms from Hailakandi town, left twenty-four people injured, including twenty children.

The incident unfolded around 10.30 am when a bus, carrying a picnic party from Silchar, collided with an Alto car. Promptly, local residents stepped in, rescuing the injured passengers and swiftly transporting them to the nearby Sarojini Hospital. Four individuals in critical condition were later referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

In response, a police team efficiently managed the situation by rescuing the vehicles involved and restoring traffic flow on the bustling highway. The aftermath of this unfortunate incident underscores the importance of safety measures on our roads.
