In a significant reshuffle, the President of India has appointed Lakshman Prasad Acharya as the new Governor of Assam. Acharya, who is currently serving as the Governor of Sikkim, will also take on the additional responsibilities of Governor of Manipur.

In another notable appointment, former Assam MP Ramen Deka has been named the Governor of Chhattisgarh. Deka previously represented the Mangaldoi constituency in the Lok Sabha.
