Guwahati: The 12th edition of the Kalachakra Purnanga Panjika for the year 2026–2027, published by Chandra Prakash, was formally released on Tuesday at a programme held at the Dispur Press Club. The Panjika, edited by noted astrologer Pulin Chandra Dev Sharma, was unveiled by renowned Vastu Shastra expert Dr. Anil Barua.
The release ceremony was attended by publisher Dr. Rabindra Mohan Sharma, astrologer and calculator Bijit P. Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Dr. Hemanta Kumar Sharma, Jyoti Prakash Sharma, Shantanu Nayan Mishra Shastri, Dr. Dhruvajyoti Dev Sharma, along with several other distinguished personalities.
On the occasion, several important astrological predictions related to Assam’s social, economic, and political landscape for the coming year were presented based on planetary calculations. According to the Graha-Mantri Phal (planetary ministerial results), the Sun (Surya), symbolising energy and authority, has assumed the role of the ruling planet for the year 2026–2027. Mercury (Budh), assigned ministerial responsibilities, is expected to exert a positive influence on prosperity, literature, music, fine arts, science and technology, medical sciences, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Astrological analysis suggests that the position of Mars as the lord of agriculture may lead to crop damage, animal diseases, and agricultural losses in certain regions. However, Saturn’s role as the lord of water indicates adequate rainfall, crop abundance, and overall improvement in the agricultural sector. As a result, the year is expected to pave the way for economic progress and prosperity among the people.
Assam’s ruling zodiac sign is Cancer (Karkat). At the beginning of the year, the Moon, the ruling planet of Cancer, is positioned in the eighth house along with Rahu. This planetary alignment indicates a possible rise in criminal activities, drug abuse, crimes against women, theft, and dacoity in major urban centres, including Guwahati. The analysis also warns of potential social unrest due to illegal immigration, extremist activities, and smuggling, which may disturb public life.
Significant indications have also been made regarding Assam’s political scenario as the state moves towards the upcoming Assembly elections. According to astrological calculations, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to assume office once again. The panjika also notes that Saturn’s influence on Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal could bring certain challenges.
The astrological study suggests that no major planetary advantage is visible for Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi, Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurinjyoti Gogoi, and BJP state president Dilip Saikia. Meanwhile, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has been identified as a potential political challenger in the coming period.
The astrologers clarified that these predictions are based on zodiac charts and that minor variations may occur depending on exact birth dates, times, and places. They also pointed out the possibility of coordination issues and lack of cohesion within the BJP’s ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
At the national level, the panjika predicts that Rahul Gandhi may face obstacles in his political journey due to the debilitated position of Saturn in his birth chart. It also indicates that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi may need to take special care of their health in the coming period.
The release of the Kalachakra Purnanga Panjika 2026–2027 has once again drawn attention to astrological interpretations of Assam’s future, sparking interest and discussion among political and social observers.
