Inter-Media Badminton Tournament Concludes Successfully in Guwahati

Guwahati: The Inter-Media Badminton Tournament, organized by the Guwahati City Committee of the Assam State Journalists Association in collaboration with the Sports Journalists Welfare Association, Assam, concluded successfully today at Modern English School’s badminton hall.

Pankaj Das, Director of Modern School, Jonali Das, and senior journalist Uday Borgohain inaugurated the event.

In the men’s singles, Rituraj Borthakur won first place, followed by Shibashis Thakur and Manas Pratim Sharma. In the women’s category, Nabaneeta Kalita came first, while Poonam Nath and Hena Dey secured the next two positions.

In the team section, Shibashis Thakur, Manas Pratim Sharma, and Rituraj Borthakur emerged winners for the Guwahati Press Club. Hildul Gogoi, Swapnashree Goswami, and Ranjit Ray were runners-up representing the Assam State Journalists’ Association.

Among students from Modern School’s badminton academy, Barnil Kashyap, Aaradhya Roychowdhury, Ishan Jyoti Barua, and Ivanshi Dei secured top positions.

Weightlifting coach Anup Konwar received the Sports Coach of the Year award from the Assam Sports Journalists’ Welfare Association. He was honored with a citation, trophy, and a cheque of Rs 10,000. Promising player awards went to table tennis players Priyanuj Bhattacharya and Janisa Bipul, triathlon athlete Devika Sharma, and athlete Zubin Gohain.

The event was supported by Uttarayan Group, NRL, Topcem Cement, Kiku Noodles, Modern English School, and SLAC. Senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi, Uttarayan Group MD Deep Jyoti Barua, sports organizer Bishnuram Nunisa, janaswaraj President Bhaskaran Gohain, ASJA Secretary Pradeep Chandra Deka, and other dignitaries were present.
