Guwahati: Assam’s Director General of Police, G P Singh, has launched an inquiry into complaints about inappropriate physical checks conducted on female candidates at an exam center in Nalbari district. The allegations arose from the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) for Grade III posts, held at Swahid Smriti Senior Secondary School in Belsor.
A female candidate took to Facebook to describe her experience, calling the body checks “disgraceful and pathetic.” She claimed that women personnel at the center conducted intrusive searches, even checking undergarments without providing privacy.
“They put their hands inside our undergarments. It was humiliating, and such checks weren’t carried out in other centers,” she wrote.
After the post went viral, DGP Singh ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. He confirmed that the Range DIG and senior female officers are handling the inquiry to ensure the matter is resolved quickly.
