Hemanta Sarma’s Short Films Shine at Special Screening in Guwahati

Guwahati: Young filmmaker and journalist Hemanta Sarma’s short films “To-Let” and “Omnipresent – A Story” were screened at a special event held at Jyoti Chitraban on Sunday. Both films have been selected for multiple international film festivals and are seen as strong contenders for awards.

The event was attended by IAS officer and producer Deba Kumar Kalita, filmmaker and lawyer Jonmoni Devi Khound, Beltola College professor Kamaruj Zaman, RJ Tanmay (Tarun Gogoi), senior sound engineer Dipak Dutta from Jyoti Chitraban, along with the cast and crew.

Hemanta Sarma has written, directed, and scripted both films. “Omnipresent – A Story” was shot in various parts of Guwahati, with cinematography by Gyan Gautam and assistant Sirajul Ali. Manas Kashyap edited the film, while Shankar Dutta handled lighting and set design. Music direction, sound mixing, and mastering were done by Ovijeet Das.

The cast includes Dhruva Prasad Bora, Niharika Nath, Pranavhi Mahanta, Dhiraj Das, Garima Das, and others. Sharma shared that “Omnipresent – A Story” will soon be sent to more international film festivals for further recognition.
