Guwahati: In a major development, Harmeet Singh, a 1992-batch IPS officer, has been officially appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP), Assam. He was earlier serving as the DGP (in-charge) after taking over from Gyanendra Pratap Singh on January 29.
The Assam government’s Home Department confirmed his promotion and posting as the full-time DGP through an official notification. Singh will also continue to serve as the Director General of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards.
