Guwahati: Police have arrested Ghanakanta Gogoi in connection with the firing incident at Hotel Bilas Inn in Lachit Nagar, in front of Bora Service, Guwahati. Police have also seized the pistol allegedly used in the incident.
According to Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Gogoi had taken the hotel on lease about a year ago. He allegedly fired shots using a .32-calibre pistol, which had a valid licence.
The incident, which took place on Monday night, triggered panic in the area. Six people, including two women, were reportedly injured in the firing and were rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
Following the incident, senior police officials reached the spot and launched an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the firing. Police are examining the details of the incident and the motive behind the attack.
