Guwahati Declared Dry Days Ahead of Meghalaya Elections

The Kamrup (Metro) district has declared April 17-19 as dry days in areas including Guwahati due to elections in Meghalaya. Starting 4 PM on April 17, all alcohol-related shops must close until the end of polling. Violations will be penalized under the Assam Excise Act.

The Kamrup (Metro) administration has announced dry days in the district, including Guwahati, from April 17 to April 19 in light of the first phase of general elections to the parliamentary constituencies in Meghalaya scheduled for April 19.

The prohibition will be enforced from 4 PM on April 17 until polling concludes on April 19. As per the official order, all wholesale warehouses, bonded warehouses, IMFL retail ON and OFF shops, microbrewery, and country spirit shops are mandated to remain closed during this period.

Any violation of the order will be addressed under the relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act and Rules.
