Govt of Assam Extends Financial Support to Families of 13 Deceased Contractual Teachers

Guwahati: The Department of School Education, Government of Assam, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Assam, distributed financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of 13 deceased contractual teachers and staff under Samagra Shiksha.

The solemn ceremony was held in the Conference Hall of the State Mission Office, Samagra Shiksha, Assam. The programme was graced by Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Education Minister of Assam, as the Chief Guest. He personally handed over the cheques to the bereaved families in the presence of several dignitaries including Dr. Om Prakash, IAS, Mission Director; Sanjoy Dutta, ACS, Executive Director; and Khanindra Das, Officer on Special Duty. Officials, staff members, and media representatives were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pegu emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to honouring the contributions of contractual teachers and employees who served selflessly in the education sector. He stated, “This assistance, though not a replacement for the lives lost, is a small step towards supporting the families who have borne the greatest loss.”
