Guwahati : Guwahati police, with the help of Hajo PS, caught a group of thugs who were stealing goods during their transportation from the railway station. Three thugs have been arrested: Md Ismile Ali@Boga (26) and Md Laskar Ali (32) from Hajo, and Md Afzal Ali (29) from Sualkuchi.
The arrests were made after a complaint was filed about the theft of commercial goods from trucks while they were traveling from the railway station to their destination. The gang would follow the trucks on motorcycles and steal the goods from the back of the trucks, where the driver and others couldn’t see.
After reviewing CCTV footage, they identified a person riding a yellow scooter who was stealing the packages.
On June 22, the City Police, with the help of Hajo PS, conducted a raid and arrested the main suspect, Md Ismile Ali from Fakirtola, Hajo. They found the red T-shirt he was wearing during the theft, the yellow scooter with the registration number AS25-S 3606, and some cartons of pan masala.
Based on his confession, they also arrested Md Laskar Ali from Borijan Hajo. The police recovered 12 helmets and four suspected stolen TVs.
They also apprehended another accomplice, Md Afzal Ali from Rowmari Suwalkuchi, based on the information provided by the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing as the police gather more evidence and information about the gang’s activities
