Guwahati: A day-long training program on modern vegetable farming was held at the Horticulture Research Station, Kahikuchi, to educate farmers from Assam and Meghalaya. The event was organized by the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi, in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University.
Experts, including Dr. Nagendra Rai (Director, IIVR) and Dr. A.N. Singh, emphasized the need for better seed production and the adoption of advanced farming techniques. Farmers also interacted with scientists and learned about poly-house technology, bush-pepper cultivation, and seed production methods.
Over 100 farmers participated and received quality seeds, farming tools, and plant protection materials. The program ended with a farm visit, where farmers observed new techniques in action.
