Guwahati: Garchuk Police apprehended eight suspects linked to a gang-rape incident after a video of the crime went viral in Guwahati. The suspects were arrested within 24 hours of receiving the information, with one individual still on the run.
The heinous incident reportedly took place on November 17 during the Raas festival at a secluded location under the jurisdiction of Garchuk Police Station.
The police were alerted at 2:30 AM on December 13 by media person, who reported the circulation of the video in the Boragaon area. Acting on this information, OC Garchuk PS Insp. Mayurjit Gogoi and SI Kajal Dutta led raids across Garchuk and Jalukbari areas, resulting in the arrest of:

- Bijoy Rabha
- Pinku Das
- Gagan Das
- Saurav Boro
- Mrinal Rabha
- Dipankar Mukhiya
The identity of the victim is yet to be established, and an investigation is ongoing to locate the remaining suspect. Police are working to ensure justice for the victim and identify all individuals involved.
