Guwahati: In a joint early morning operation on Monday, teams from Maligaon Outpost and the Jalukbari Excise Circle raided and destroyed multiple illegal country liquor (Desi Sulai) fermentation hubs in the Adingiri area.
The teams busted seven illegal bhatis (liquor distillation units) and seized approximately 35 litres of illicit liquor along with nearly 4,500 kilograms of fermented material used in liquor production. They also found and destroyed 15 to 20 containers used for storing and fermenting the brew.
Two individuals, who were caught red-handed while operating the bhatis, were immediately apprehended at the scene. Officials have stated that further legal action is being initiated against the accused.
The operation marks a significant crackdown on the ongoing issue of illicit liquor manufacturing in the area.
