Guwahati: Guwahati Press Club hosted the book launch of Dear Arjie, the first novel by Mumbai-based writer Drishtirupa Das (Drishti), on Saturday morning.
The event began with a Saraswati Vandana by Er. Bijuli Goswami. Sristirupa Das welcomed everyone and introduced the guests.
Dr. Harendra Chandra Das, former Director of Education, Assam, led the event. He spoke about how books can help people learn and think better.
Former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, was the chief guest. He praised the book and said the story was full of emotion. Famous Assamese writer Bandita Phukan also attended as the guest of honour. She said Dear Arjie shows the courage and feelings of the characters very well.
Author Drishtirupa Das shared why she wrote the book and read a part of it aloud. Many people in the audience shared how the story touched them.
The event was full of love for books and stories.
