Shillong: Bengaluru FC secured a 2-0 victory over NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25. With this win, Bengaluru FC moved to fourth place in the table with 34 points from 21 games, while NorthEast United FC remains fifth with 32 points.
Bengaluru FC started strong, pressing high and creating openings. In the third minute, Ryan Williams received a slick pass from Alberto Noguera and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, giving the visitors an early lead. NorthEast United FC responded in the 18th minute when Alaaeddine Ajaraie’s header, assisted by Redeem Tlang, was saved by Bengaluru FC goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte. The home team continued attacking but failed to convert their chances.
The second half saw both teams battling for control, with NorthEast United FC’s Nestor Albiach testing Ralte, who made a crucial save. The Highlanders pushed for an equalizer but struggled with accuracy. In the 81st minute, Noguera capitalized on a defensive error inside the box, scoring Bengaluru FC’s second goal. The visitors held on for the win, securing their second consecutive clean sheet.
NorthEast United FC will face Chennaiyin FC on March 3, while Bengaluru FC will play their next match against the same team on February 25.
