Guwahati: The Assam State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Panchayat elections in 27 districts of the state.
Candidates must submit their nomination papers by April 11, 2025. Officials will check the nominations on April 12. The list of approved candidates will be released on the same day. Candidates who wish to withdraw can do so until April 17, 2025. The final list of candidates will be published later that day.
Voting will take place in two phases. The first phase will be on May 2, 2025, and the second phase will be on May 7, 2025. Polling will happen from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM on both days. If re-polling is required, it will be held on May 4 for the first phase and May 9 for the second phase. The vote counting will start on May 11, 2025, from 8:00 AM.
The number of eligible voters has increased by 13.27% compared to the 2018 elections. This year, 1,80,36,682 people can vote. Among them, 9,071,264 are men, 8,965,010 are women, and 408 belong to other categories.
