New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday and sought a fresh push for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) in the two northeastern states.
The meeting focused on increasing capital expenditure and creating new investment opportunities for physical and social infrastructure through EAPs.
Sarma said the Union Finance Minister responded positively and assured the Chief Ministers of renewed support from the Centre to accelerate development in the region.
The meeting was attended by Assam Bhawan Resident Commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.
The move is expected to help Assam and Meghalaya mobilise additional investment for infrastructure and development projects.
