Guwahati: Assam down town University commemorated World Laboratory Day, highlighting the crucial role of laboratories in scientific progress and healthcare. Themed “The Future Is Lab: Embrace Innovation,” the event, organized by the Programme of Medical Laboratory Technology, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, showcased the significance of innovation in labs.
Vice Chancellor Dr. N.C. Talukdar inaugurated the event, joined by esteemed guests like Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Puranik, Chairperson Dr. P.C Sharma, and Dean Dr. Abhijit Dutta. Eminent speakers, including Dr. Chenjei Konyak and Dr. L. Sundareswaran, discussed topics like equitable access to medical labs and the future of laboratories.
The event also featured essay and scientific poster competitions, where students showcased their talents. Reena Tamang, Shahil Mustaf, and Laltlanchungi won the essay competition, while Ipsita Goswami, Md. Jakibul Hassan, and Rakibul Hassan excelled in the scientific poster competition.
Dr. Abhijit Dutta and Mrs. Shila Kumari Singh, along with the Medical Laboratory Technology department, were instrumental in organizing the successful event, fostering interaction between students and industry experts.
