Guwahati: Assam down town University (AdtU) celebrated its 16th Foundation Day with a programme at the campus amphitheatre, attended by students, faculty, dignitaries and guests.
The day began with a flag hoisting by Dean of Studies Prof. Bandana Dutta, followed by the National Anthem and the university anthem. A documentary on the university’s milestones was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, who also addressed the gathering.
Chancellor Dr. N. N. Dutta and Vice Chancellor Prof. N. C. Talukdar outlined the university’s future vision, while Guest of Honour Naresh Kalita, Editor of Niyamiya Barta, released the AdtU magazine. Awards worth nearly ₹50 lakh were presented to faculty, students, researchers and staff for their contributions.
The event also featured cultural performances, including Borgeet, Bhortaal, Boro dance, fusion dance and modern songs. The programme concluded with the Assam State Anthem and a vote of thanks.
