Assam Cabinet Implements Key Measures for Public Welfare

Nalbari: The Assam state cabinet has announced significant decisions to benefit various sectors.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that fines for missing documents on two-wheelers will no longer be imposed. However, helmet violations will still attract fines. Three-wheelers will receive four warnings before fines are issued for rule breaches.

The cabinet approved a special recruitment drive to regularize around 35,000 contractual teachers under Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan and state pool teachers.

Additionally, the Assam Private Placement Agencies for Recruitment of Workers (Regulation) Rules 2024 were introduced, requiring private placement agencies to register with the Labour Welfare Department for better regulation.

The Assam Witness Protection Scheme 2024 was also approved, ensuring witness safety with measures like in-camera trials, CCTV, and security enhancements.
