Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit secured ₹4.28 lakh crore in investment proposals. He said the summit would boost Assam’s economy and help the state contribute to India’s development.
Speaking at the closing ceremony in Guwahati, Dr. Sarma said Assam’s economy has grown rapidly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He highlighted key upcoming projects:
- Jagiroad Semiconductor Plant will produce 48 million chips per year.
- NRL Refinery will be India’s first to produce bio-ethanol from bamboo.
- LGBI Airport’s new terminal will open this year.
- A new bridge over the Brahmaputra will connect Guwahati and North Guwahati.
Dr. Sarma assured that all MoUs signed at the summit would be implemented. He urged higher education institutions to focus on skill development to meet industry needs.
Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal praised Assam’s economic progress and leadership. He emphasized the role of Trade, Technology, Tourism (3Ts) and Industry, Infrastructure, Investment (3Is) in Assam’s future growth.
The summit included representatives from ADB, World Bank, NRL, Tata Electronics, PepsiCo, and FICCI.
