Guwahati: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on Tuesday announced the revised final results of the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024. The fresh list was published after the Commission cancelled the result declared on February 16 due to discrepancies related to reserved posts for the Moran and Motok communities.

As per government policy and official directives, two posts each in Assam Civil Service (ACS) and Assam Police Service (APS) (Junior Grade) were to be reserved for candidates belonging to the Moran and Motok communities under the OBC/MOBC category. However, in the earlier result, certain errors were detected in implementing this special reservation, prompting the Commission to issue a corrected list on February 17.

Top Rankers in Key Services

In the Assam Civil Service (ACS), Nihar Ranjan Deka secured the first position. The top five candidates in ACS are Nihar Ranjan Deka, Rajnish Sharma, Panchali Devi, Priyanuj Bharali and Vishal Das. A total of 45 candidates have been selected for ACS posts.

In the Assam Police Service (APS) Junior Grade, Bhaskar Jyoti Medhi topped the list. Altogether 20 candidates have been selected for APS, with Amlan Baruah and Dhritiman Barman securing the second and third positions respectively.

In the Finance Service, Ashmina Akhtar secured the first position in the list of 53 selected candidates. Hrithrishna Deka topped among 51 selected candidates for the post of Tax Inspector. In the Block Development Officer (BDO) category, Rozonina Parveen stood first among nine selected candidates. Geet Barsha Das secured the top position for Labour Inspector, while Nishamani Das topped the list of 16 candidates selected as Assistant Audit Officer.

Final lists have also been released for other posts including District Transport Officer (2 posts), Assistant Registrar (2 posts), Labour Officer (2 posts), Sub-Registrar (13 posts), and Excise Inspector (19 posts).

The Commission stated that the results were prepared on the basis of merit, government reservation policies, and the service preferences given by candidates.

Reserved Posts for Moran–Motok Candidates

Under the revised result, Sushmita Gogoi (Motok) and Amit Kumar Chutiya (Moran) have been selected for ACS under the reserved category. Similarly, Kaveri Dutta (Motok) and Rohit Moran (Moran) have been selected for APS.

Minister’s Clarification in Assembly

Meanwhile, speaking in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary clarified that as per the Assam Government’s office memorandum dated October 19, 2023, one post each in ACS (Junior Grade) and APS (Junior Grade) is to be reserved for Moran and Motok communities in the CCE examinations to be conducted over the next five years.

He stated that although APSC had been informed about this directive, the final result declared on February 16 had considered only two Motok candidates on merit against the reserved quota, leading to objections from Moran student bodies and community organisations. Following the complaints, the Commission immediately reviewed the matter and cancelled the earlier result to ensure proper implementation of the government’s reservation policy.

With the revised list now published, the controversy surrounding CCE 2024 results appears to have been addressed, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to reservation guidelines for the Moran and Motok communities.
