Guwahati: On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development by pledging to plant 1.75 lakh saplings to help build a greener and healthier future.
As part of this commitment, a Tree Plantation Programme was carried out throughout January 2026 at the Majirgaon–Palashbari to Sualkuchi Bridge Project. The main aim of the programme was to increase green cover, protect the environment, and spread awareness about the importance of ecological balance among project staff and the local community.
During the plantation drive, saplings were planted at several key locations, including along the Project Right of Way (ROW), Agshia Anchalik School in Palashbari, and Shrihati Bathan High School at Bathan. The programme saw active participation from the project team, contractors, and other associated staff, showing a strong collective effort towards environmental protection.
The initiative also helped strengthen engagement with local communities and schools, encouraging students and residents to adopt eco-friendly and responsible practices. By linking sustainability with project activities, the plantation drive contributed to improving the local environment while reinforcing L&T’s focus on environmental care, social responsibility, and sustainable development.
Under this programme, a total of 10,000 saplings were planted.
