Guwahati: Swapnil Pal on Monday assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan district. A 2018-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Pal was previously serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia district.
The change comes following a recent directive issued by the state government. As per the order, former Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan has been transferred to Tinsukia district, while Swapnil Pal has been entrusted with the responsibility of heading the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration.
The new Deputy Commissioner is expected to focus on administrative efficiency, urban governance and development-related initiatives in the rapidly growing metropolitan district.
