Mumbai: Emerging actress Arrchita Agarwal, a proud daughter of Assam, has won the Filmfare OTT Award 2025 for Breakthrough Performance by a Newcomer (Female). Veteran actress Sheeba Chadda presented the award at a ceremony held recently in Mumbai.
Arrchita received the award for her powerful performance in the Hindi film “Despatch”, which received critical appreciation. The win has brought pride to Assam and the entire Northeast region.
Arrchita was earlier seen in the Assamese blockbuster “Rudra”, opposite actor Ravi Sharma. The Filmfare award marks a major milestone in her acting career.
The Filmfare OTT Awards ceremony saw the presence of many well-known film personalities, including Vikram Motwane, Nikhil Advani, Alia Bhatt, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Vicky Kaushal, and Richa Chadda.
Arrchita moved from Assam to Mumbai for her studies. She first worked in costume design for two years before entering acting. She later acted in short films, more than 30 digital advertisements, and the popular series “Satyamev Jayate.”
She also played an important role in the Hindi thriller “Despatch”, starring Manoj Vajpayee and directed by Kanu Behl.
After receiving the award, Arrchita said she feels honoured and grateful. She said the award belongs to the entire Despatch team, her family, and mentors. She also said the Northeast has immense talent and deserves more recognition in Indian cinema.
Arrchita’s achievement is being seen as a historic moment for Assam. She may be among the first artists from the state to win a Filmfare-level award in the newcomer category.
Arrchita Agarwal is an actress and former costume designer. She has worked in Hindi and Assamese films, web series, and digital ads. With her recent success, she is emerging as a strong new talent in Indian cinema.
