Guwahati: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police’s CID will file the charge sheet in the Zubeen Garg death case on December 12. SIT head Munna Prasad Gupta announced this on Saturday in Guwahati.
Gupta said the investigation is in its final stage.
“We will file the charge sheet before the court on December 12. We have arrested seven people and questioned around 300 witnesses,” he said.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier told that Zubeen Garg’s death in Singapore on September 19 was “plain and simple murder.”
He said one person killed Zubeen and others helped the killer. The Chief Minister added that the motive behind the crime will shock the people of Assam.
Sarma also said the SIT will file a strong and watertight charge sheet, and the investigation will later expand to check possible negligence and criminal breach of trust linked to the case.
He added that the story behind the crime began before the COVID-19 period, and the government will ensure that no one who betrayed Zubeen escapes punishment.
