Namrata Bachar Wins Assam State Round of ‘Kahin Gumm Na Ho Jayein’ Cookery Contest

Guwahati: The Assam State Level Contest of Kahin Gumm Na Ho Jayein, Season 8, concluded with a colourful finale at the Institute of Advanced Management (IAM), Guwahati, featuring 35 talented contestants from across the state.

Namrata Bachar emerged as the Assam State Winner, while Rita Kalita and Niluphar Hussain were declared 1st and 2nd Runner-Up, respectively.

Organized by the NGO Let’s Give Back, the national cookery contest aims to revive and promote traditional Indian recipes, celebrating India’s rich culinary heritage. The initiative, founded in 2016 by the late Babeetta Saxena, is now led by Retd. Col. Atul Saxena, Co-Founder of the organization.

The theme of Season 8, “My State, My Plate,” focused on showcasing regional cuisines from across India. The contest is supported by Padma Shri Chef Sanjeev Kapoor and Bollywood actress Suchitra Pillai.

Currently being held in 15 Indian states and Canada, the competition will culminate in a Grand Finale in New Delhi in January 2026, where all state winners will compete for a total prize pool of ₹1.5 lakh.

The Assam event was judged by leading culinary experts, including Chef Amitabh Dutta, Chef Hemanta Baishya, and Reena Mukherjee, who also served as Chief Coordinator. Mr. Susanta Chakraborty, Director of IAM, hosted the event and extended his support.

The Assam round was coordinated by Daisy Ahmed under the mentorship of Col. Atul Saxena.
