AASU Announces Statewide Protest Demanding Justice for Zubeen Garg
Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has announced that it will hold statewide protests across Assam demanding justice for late singer Zubeen Garg.
AASU General Secretary Samiran Phukon said “The people of Assam want justice for Zubeen Garg.
AASU has already begun staging protests in various parts of the state as anger and emotion continue to grow among fans and the general public.
Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Zubeen Garg’s death has received the viscera report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), New Delhi, according to SIT head and Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta.
He informed that the report has been sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where a committee will study it and prepare the final autopsy report.
So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case, including Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, and bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami.
Zubeen Garg — the legendary singer, composer, lyricist, and cultural icon of Assam — passed away in Singapore on September 19 around 2:40 p.m. IST.
According to reports, the 52-year-old artist was in Singapore to perform at the North East India Festival 2025.
