Guwahati: The Gauhati Press Club (GPC) on Friday organized a shradhanjali programme in memory of Assam’s beloved cultural icon, Zubeen Garg. Journalists from across the city gathered to pay floral tributes to the legendary singer.

Garg’s uncle, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, and noted singer Padmanav Bordoloi joined the journalists in remembering Zubeen. With tears in his eyes, Borthakur lit the ceremonial earthen lamp and recalled the hard work and dedication that defined Garg’s journey to success.

“This is a moment of great grief for me to light the earthen lamp in memory of my own nephew,” Borthakur said.

Bordoloi called Garg’s death “an irreplaceable loss” and expressed hope that the ongoing investigations would bring out the truth about the circumstances of his passing. As a heartfelt tribute, Bordoloi and the journalists sang Zubeen’s popular song “Mayabini.”

GPC President Sushmita Goswami, Vice-President Aloka Barua, General Secretary Sanjoy Ray, Sports Secretary Azad Gogoi, and senior journalists Pulin Saha, Reba Borah, Prasanta Baruah, and Abhijit Deb were among those present.
