Assam down town University Holds 12th Convocation Ceremony

Guwahati: Assam down town University (AdtU) held its 12th Convocation Ceremony with Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, as the chief guest. He was welcomed by the university’s Chancellor Dr. N. N. Dutta and Vice Chancellor Prof. N. C. Talukdar. To mark the occasion, the Governor planted a sapling on the campus, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

A highlight of the event was the conferment of honorary degrees. Padma Shri Dr. Randeep Guleria, former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi and current President of AIIMS, Bilaspur, received the D.Sc. (Honoris Causa). Dr. Pitambar Dev Goswami, the 16th Satradhikar of Auniati Satra, was conferred the D.Litt. (Honoris Causa).

Degrees were awarded to graduating students from Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate programmes. Gold medals were presented to Punam Kumari (Best Postgraduate, Pharmaceutical Science) and Krishna Kumar Bharti (Best Undergraduate, Pharmaceutical Science). Nafisa Rahman Choudhuri received the award for Best Placement Achiever, while Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi was honoured with the AdtU Alumni Award for Inspiring Achievement.

The Governor congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to contribute to society with resilience, compassion, and innovation. The ceremony concluded with the signing of the Convocation Book, a Vote of Thanks, and the National Anthem.
