Guwahati: Nishinath Changkakoti, a former Director General of Police (DGP) for Assam, passed away on Sunday at the age of 91. He took his last breath at 5:30 PM at a privat hospital in Guwahati’s , where he had been receiving treatment since November 4 for age-related health issues.
A celebrated IPS officer, Changkakoti earned widespread respect for his remarkable service in law enforcement and his steadfast commitment to integrity. Beyond his illustrious policing career, he was also an accomplished writer, essayist, and social activist.
Changkakoti’s exceptional contributions to policing and his dedication to social initiatives have left an indelible mark, earning him admiration and respect from all sections of society.
