Guwahati: A major fire broke out at City Dhaba in Guwahati’s Bhangagarh area on Saturday morning, destroying the restaurant and creating panic among people in the busy commercial locality.
The fire reportedly started around 9 am at the eatery located on GS Road, opposite Roodraksh Mall. According to initial reports, a cooking gas cylinder exploded inside the restaurant’s kitchen, causing the fire to spread rapidly.
Thick black smoke rose above the area and covered parts of the Bhangagarh flyover, affecting visibility along the busy road.
Eyewitnesses said they heard a loud explosion from inside the restaurant, following which flames quickly spread through the building. People in nearby shops and other establishments reportedly rushed to safety as the fire intensified.
